Well, I got the flu last week. I am thanking the very sweet-natured ladies from Walgreens who were sneezing on all the customers they helped last Tuesday.
It really sucks. I’ve been on tea w/ lemon or lime and honey, to keep my sinuses open.
It would be okay if it weren’t for the fact that it causes nightmares to do with insane amounts of coughing. And the nightmares pick up from the Alfred Hitchcock Presents mysteries we tend to watch before crashing at night.
And I need to call up my nurse practitioner and find out why the hell she did not refer me to a pulmonologist to look down my bronchials and say, “Hey, is that chicken fluff?” On top of it taking her two weeks to write up and send me the referral sheet.
Everything’s fine. The dood is coming up with tasty ideas to try all of Harry’s preserves (the timing was impeccable, ha; yesterday was his birthday), and Lucy and Pancho helped me finish some beef soup awhile ago. They like the chayote squash cooked into it.
I hope to write more later, but we’ll see. I’m pooped.

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.

Have you got any Eucalyptus radiata eo? Mix a few drops with some carrier and rub the souls of your feet. It is ace for killing flu. Hope you get well soon. I always dread getting joims when I go out to hobnob with the hoi polloi.
Heal soonest! Is it ‘official’ that you’re having issues with chicken fluff?
it’s not official about the chicken fluff. not yet anyway. I am calling the clinic to get the referral info so I know who the hell to schedule the appointment with. it’s always something… *grumble*
but last night, no nightmares, yeehah! staying up to watch Letterman helped, I am sure.
ya know, I DO have euc radiata…. I am going to excavate for it after I heat up some chicken soup for lunch. and feed Lucy. she’s been the dood’s Official Helper Cat since I fell down and went boom with the stinking germs. I’ve got a couple different vintages of eucalyptus…
And I am such a ding dong, THANK YOU for the jams
The dood ate the strawberries w/ lavender buds, which is to say he stirred some into yogurt. And then stirred a little more. And a little more… Pancho and Lucy killed some of the paper packing material enthusiastically. Those antique glass lids are the bees’ meow. I’m going to start looking for them myself.
You want any of those glass lids, I will send them to you. I am transitioning to all Weck all the time. I like the glass lids because they are reusable, but they result in a lot of seal failures, especially if they are not on a quart. I have 160 of those glass lids, so plenty to spare. I also have a ton of the antique rubber rings. I will send some out for you to play with in my next mailing.
PS – I was not able to taste the lavender buds in the lavender strawberry, but I sure did like the strawberry. This year I am going to make a LOT of the traditional strawberry. This was from the Canning for a New Generation book. To me, that jam was just right.
